Setting up my new classroom

New school year, sleepless nights, a mind full of thoughts and ideas and an excited teacher. Excitement, not just limited to setting up the classroom, but to plan lessons, and to make sure that the journey is worthwhile.
So here's how I plan to go about it, after reading a few inspirational books like 'Teach like your hair is on fire'

Displays: The theme for my new class is inspired by my own experience of spending too much time on technology, and is called 'Connecting without technology'. The classroom will have different apps
  • Instagram for displaying students' work- the good work instantly goes up
  • Pinterest for students to pin, anything that they like or find interesting - a newspaper article, a poem, a picture
  • Twitter will be used as an exit slip where students will be asked to summarize their learning
  • Kindle for the reading corner
  • Google for the teacher to post information related to the topics being studied in class
  • Oxword- This will be used as the word wall, a place to post the new vocabulary, also a place to find interesting words while writing
  • Facebook - This is going to be the teacher's board - 'Ms. Vrinda's Facebook wall' which will feature reminders, students' birthdays, thought for the day in the form of a status and word of the day
I plan to use the small canvas boards to paint the app symbols. Pictures coming soon:)
